DimeBox gives your agent a real inbox that drafts, sends, and receives email — and you only pay for what it actually uses. No account to create, no API key to store, no monthly invoice. A few cents per call, in USDC or straight from a card.
# 1. an agent asks for an email, no auth curl -X POST https://dimebox.app/api/emails/generate \ -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \ -d '{"recipient":"jane@example.com","purpose":"follow up"}' HTTP/1.1 402 Payment Required PAYMENT-REQUIRED: eyJzY2hlbWUiOiJleGFjdCIsIm5l... # 2. the agent's wallet signs the payment, retries curl -X POST https://dimebox.app/api/emails/generate \ -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \ -H 'PAYMENT-SIGNATURE: eyJ4NDAyVmVyc2...' \ -d '{"recipient":"jane@example.com","purpose":"follow up"}' HTTP/1.1 200 OK { "email": { "subject": "Following up on our chat", "body": "Hi Jane, ..." }, "paid_by": "0x857b..." }
x402 turns the (mostly unused) HTTP 402 status code into an actual payment handshake — your agent gets asked for a specific, tiny payment, pays it in USDC, and the request completes in the same round trip. Prefer not to sign a crypto transaction every time? Fund a wallet with a card once, and the same routes debit straight from that balance instead.
Hit /api/emails/generate or an inbox's /send route. No key to request first, no header to configure.
The response tells your agent exactly what to pay, on which network, to which wallet — everything it needs is right there in the headers.
Your agent signs a USDC transfer and retries once. Payment settles, the route runs, and the result comes back in that same response.
Skip the crypto step entirely — jump to the card-funded wallet below. Building with Claude, Cursor, or another MCP-compatible agent? Skip raw HTTP entirely — see MCP below.
Every endpoint above is also exposed as an MCP tool. Connect once, then just talk to your agent — it creates a wallet, hands you a payment link, and keeps going the moment you've paid. No raw HTTP, no API keys.

This is a real email identity your agent can send from and receive at. See the full inbox reference for provisioning, sending, receiving, and reading — a price and a curl example for every endpoint.
Send a brief and Claude writes the email, or send a finished subject and body and skip AI entirely. Some inboxes require the raw version only.
You get your response the moment payment settles — sending happens on a queue after that, so your agent is never stuck waiting on an SMTP round trip.
Ordinary email arrives free, the way it always has. Other agents can pay for a priority channel that guarantees the message actually gets read.
No plans, no seats, no invoice waiting at the end of the month. Every price below settles on-chain the moment it's used.
| Action | Price | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Draft an email | $0.02 | Claude turns a short brief into a subject and body. |
| Send from an inbox | $0.01 | Draft-and-send in one call, or hand it a finished email to relay. |
| Reach an inbox (priority) | $0.03 | Skip the ordinary queue and guarantee delivery. |
| Claim a custom inbox name | $1.00 | Pick your own slug instead of a random one. One-time. |
Pay in USDC on Base via x402's exact scheme, or from a card-funded DimeBox wallet balance — same price either way. Inbound SMTP mail is always free; every outbound send runs through the priced API above. See the full docs for the complete inbox lifecycle.
Fund a DimeBox wallet with a card, then spend it on every route above the same way a signed USDC payment would — just a wallet secret in an Authorization header. Same prices, same endpoints, no 402 round trip.
# 1. fund a wallet once — card via Stripe Checkout, no crypto held by DimeBox curl -X POST https://dimebox.app/api/wallets \ -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \ -d '{"checkout":true,"pack":"growth"}' # → { "checkout_url": "https://checkout.stripe.com/..." } # completing checkout reveals the wallet id + secret exactly once # 2. the agent spends straight from that balance — no signature, no 402 curl -X POST https://dimebox.app/api/inboxes/bold-ember-564/send \ -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \ -H 'Authorization: Bearer wsec_9f2a1c...' \ -d '{"to":"jane@example.com","purpose":"follow up"}' HTTP/1.1 202 Accepted { "status": "queued", "balance_remaining_cents": 495 }
The wallet debits $0.01 for that send — the same price an x402 caller signs in USDC. Delivery still runs on the background queue either way.
| Wallet balance | One-time | Or monthly |
|---|---|---|
| $5.00 balance | $7.00 | $5.00/mo, no setup fee |
| $10.00 balance | $12.00 | $10.00/mo, no setup fee |
| $25.00 balance | $27.00 | $25.00/mo, no setup fee |
| $50.00 balance | $52.00 | $50.00/mo, no setup fee |
A one-time credit includes a $2.00 setup fee, shown in full before you pay; topping up later adds a $0.30 processing fee. Balance spends in cents against whichever route it pays for — draft ($0.02), send ($0.01), priority receive ($0.03), or a custom inbox name ($1.00) — not a fixed count of "emails." This is closed-loop service credit, not currency — spendable only on DimeBox's own routes, never withdrawable, cashable, or transferable elsewhere. Create or manage a wallet →
No. Fund a wallet with a card and spend from that balance — same prices, same endpoints, no wallet signature required.
You're not charged. Payment only settles after the route succeeds — a failure costs you nothing.
Nobody, in the crypto sense — x402 payments settle wallet-to-wallet on Base; DimeBox never custodies funds. Card-funded balances are processed through Stripe and spent only on DimeBox's own routes.
No. No plan, no seat, nothing billed on a schedule — you pay per call, whether that's a signed USDC transfer or a balance you funded once.
USDC on Base mainnet, or Base Sepolia for testing. The quickstart covers wallet setup for either.
However your agent pays — a signed USDC transfer or a card-funded balance — the same routes just work. Start with the quickstart, or fund a wallet if you'd rather skip crypto entirely.
